DuTrac Community Credit Union announces scholarship winners

Seven (7) soon-to-be graduates of area high schools, and members of DuTrac Community Credit Union, have been awarded scholarships through DuTrac’s 2023 Academic Scholarship Program.

Recipients of a $1,000 scholarship are:

  • Serena Brokaw, daughter of Christian Brokaw, is graduating from Monticello High School (Monticello, IA). Brokaw plans to attend The University of Northern Iowa to pursue a double major in biology and nursing.
  • Andrew Day, son of Michael & Cindy Day, is graduating from Senior High School (Dubuque, IA). Day plans to attend Loras College to pursue a major in computer science.
  • Jena Edwards, daughter of Dan & Sharon Edwards, is graduating from Central DeWitt High School (DeWitt, IA). Edwards plans to attend Iowa State University and pursue a major in finance.
  • Kyra Howieson, daughter of Darla Meyer & Kent Howieson, is a graduate of Senior High School (Dubuque, IA). Howieson plans to attend The University of Iowa to pursue a major in biomedical engineering.
  • Dontayvia Kirk, daughter of Kelsey Sagers, will be graduating from Davenport Central High School (Davenport, IA).  Kirk plans to attend Baylor University, Waco, TX, to pursue a major in biochemistry with plans for earning a medical degree.
  • Mia Maiers, daughter of Jeff & Tricia Maiers, is graduating from Beckman Catholic High School (Dyersville, IA). Maiers plans to attend The University of Iowa to pursue a major in business analytics & information systems.
  • Briley Miller, daughter of Nikki Thomsen, is a graduate of Maquoketa High School (Maquoketa, IA). Miller plans to attend Iowa State University to pursue a major in animal science.

 

In addition, selected from over 280 applicants for one of eight $2,000 Iowa Credit Union Foundation Warren A. Morrow Memorial Scholarships, is DuTrac member Jena Edwards, who also is receiving a 2023 DuTrac Scholarship Program award.

Jena Edwards, daughter of Dan & Sharon Edwards, will graduate from Central DeWitt High School (DeWitt, IA). Edwards plans to apply her scholarship awards toward tuition at Iowa State University while pursuing a major in finance.

 

“A lifetime of learning is a key value any person affiliated with DuTrac may expect to engage. Learning is a key tenet of credit unions to ensure development of the cooperative and international cooperative principles.  DuTrac’s Scholarship Program was established to recognize members of the Credit Union who have demonstrated scholastic achievement, are active participants in curricular and extra-curricular activities, engaged with their community, and have a goal to advance their education at an accredited community college, trade school, technical college or university,” states Jason Norton, senior vice president of marketing and business development.

Any DuTrac member who is a graduating senior and has an account in good standing is encouraged to apply for one of the scholarships available through DuTrac’s Scholarship Program. The announcement of DuTrac’s 2024 Scholarship Program will occur soon. Please visit DuTrac.org regularly for more details. In addition, those interested in the 2024 Scholarship program are encouraged to reference local media sources and school guidance counselors for application guidelines.
